Good morning everyone,

I would like to share another cute image of the red squirrel I photographed at Penny Hedge with my friend Paul, in this close up you can see the reflection of the hide we were in his eye 🙂

Stunning. So beautiful, so sharp, such lovely colour!

Super idea too, squirrel headshot.

So, before I invest in a super telephoto (200-600 or 400-800), I have decided to slow down a bit and work on building skills. Using the 70-200 telephoto that I have along with the 1.4x teleconverter, I saw this squirrel just over a 100 feet away. I also cropped this photo. I experimented with various methods of auto focus as well as using DMF. It really is challenging to get a good photo sharply focused at just the right moment. When I look at examples of photos on this site, it is impressive to see the results. Still, this simple photo of a common squirrel did help me better understand how to use more of the the complexity and capabilities of the camera. Thanks to many of you for the encouragement and for posting a wealth of valuable guidance and information.
