I was very lucky, through my volunteer work at the Milang Heritage Railway Museum, to receive an invite to the 40th Anniversary Gala Run of the Steam Ranger Cockle Train from Goolwa to Victor Harbour and return on Saturday evening. The line between Goolwa and Pt Elliot is the oldest railway line in Australia. The loco, 621, is the largest steam loco currently running in South Australia. Normally the Cockle Train is hauled by smaller locomotives or even an old Adelaide suburban 'Red Hen".

Anyway, here are a few pics. These were all taken with my Sony RX100M7.

Goolwa Cockles, or Pipis, are a seafood delicacy here. They are in season between the beginning of November and the end of May and there are daily bag limits. The train runs right along the coast, often right behind the beach, between Goolwa and Victor Harbour where the shell fish are found.
