COMPETING WITH PORN

I haven't noticed it on this site, but on another site I belong to, their boudoir section is actually full of hardcore porn. It's not delicate ladies with shimmering cloth blowing around their nude bodies. It is full-on, with “show me the money shot”-type shots.

I personally don't think they have any place in a professional photography group, although it's not just for professionals, and amateurs are welcome too. There are people who post extremely good shots, and they get barely a comment, if anything. Yet these “money shot”-so-called artistic shots get a lot of positive comments.

I have no objection to porn at all. I just don't think it belongs on a site that is meant for photographers to show off their skills in photography, not just get a load of likes because it's a pornographic picture.

Hopefully moderators would sort it out if it ever did appear. To me it's not an art form.

I won't wade into the "subjectivity of art" topic, but I don't expect pornographic style photography on this forum. There have been some tasteful portraits with implied nudity on here, the kind you still wouldn't want to open on a company laptop, but nothing worth reporting to the our forum owner Tim.

I think we have been lucky thus far to have a decent bunch of folks who post photos and discuss photography without needing heavy moderation. I sometimes report spammers so they can be blocked, I'd flag porn for removal too.

I agree with you all. We are not the morality police so to each his own, but on an appropriate website. Were are a photography group and possibly could attract young photographers. I am sure kids today can get their hands on plenty of online porn, unlike my generation that had to scavenge for a discarded Playboy magazine. However, this site is not the place.
