Apologies in advance if question has been raised and answered (if you could point me in that direction I would appreciate it).. but I have my own version :)

A7-RII. I would like to 'save' a set of camera settings for Astro pics (Milky Way) (manual focus, WB, aperture, ISO, shutter, shutter delay.. and any other you can recommend) to a 'custom-function" button say number 1 or 2 on the Mode dial or somewhere else. In my mind I'd like to think - oh yes I have a clear night, new moon etc. but can't remember the full suite of settings/menus etc. If I just turn the Mode dial to 1 or 2 it will set me up for basic success - I can walk the ISO/shutter up and down to get the best results from the basic memory settings.. I am very new to this whole mirrorless way and the camera manual is a whole new learning curve for this analogue dinosaur but VERY exciting.. An absolute bonus would be some basic advice on settings from the experience of the forum (for example I found out very recently that I can 'zoom' in on the screen and focus on specific points! Beats the snot out of a loupe and poor reading glasses :) I'd still need the readers tho...
Many thanks in advance

So this probably works the same way on the Rii as it does on the other cameras.
Steps:
1) Go to the M
2) Make all settings that you want to be the default
3) In the menu go to "Memory" and select the 1 or 2 you want to assign all those setting to

I know in later cameras this also saves all the custom button and FN menu options but not sure about the Rii.

Thanks very much :) Tried that and it works - more importantly is that I understand how to do it now :)

I have a Memory setting for Milky Way shots. Are you taking multiple images and stacking them?

Just so you know if you wanted to have a default be Shutter or Aperture Priority you would just start with those for step 1.

errr, not sure :) I tried single shots down in NZ and was quite happy with the results. I did not however take any lens-cap-on noise reduction type shots. I'm lucky enough to be going 'out-west' next week (Carnarvon Gorge etc) on a field trip. So will be totally up for some astro - as its a new moon this weekend... so advice on stacking shots would be appreciated :)

Half your luck. I'm going to Mount Gambier this weekend but it's supposed to rain the whole time I'm there.

I have been using the Interval Shooting Function to take 60 shots and then 20 dark frames.
