Pets Dog photography Thread.

Alpha Dog :) Apologies for the Fuji photo but I thought the hat might make it ok. I am enjoying the little MF Voightlander lens. The FE version of the 40mm seems very popular and I may give one a go for the fun of it down the road.

My 6 month old pup, Freya. I was going to edit out the piece of grass, but didn't. She is a rescue. She was found with her sister by a horse rider on a trail, living in the desert. Even though she's been part of our family for almost two months now, she still munches at vegitation every now and then. It's no doubt from the time she spent trying to survive on her own in the desert. This was taken with a Tamron 70-180 @ 2.8.

great image, beautiful pup. I had my girl until she was 16 yrs old, never outgrew munching grass. Sometimes barfed, but usually not.

Thanks! Most of our dogs have eaten grass at some point, but this little girl munches almost anything that is green. Here is another pic of her. Shot with A7iv with the Tamron 70-180 at 2.8. The eyes are in focus, but the nose is definitely out of focus. The look doesn't really bother me. I'm just starting to do the pictures for some local shelters and rescues. I absolutely love dogs, and helping some of them find their forever homes feels really good.

I volunteer for a dog rescue group - Dog Gone Seattle. Our little guy Niko was one of their rescues. Poor thing was found on the streets in Bakersfield, CA. Anyone who could abuse a puppy should be tortured and shot but that's another subject.

We'll foster a pup from time to time and we are now looking after Ned. He's a funny little guy and very cute too. I wanted to try the Tamron 35-150 for action. It's ok but not nearly as good as the 70-200 GMII but that is to be expected. The focal range is so useful and the speed is appreciated.

Really wish the lens had a lens collar so I could use it as a carry handle. It just feels too heavy to use walking around supported only by the lens mount. Unless I'm using my stuff in anger i.e. braking hard on the racetrack etc. I like to think I have some mechanical sympathy and try and avoid excess wear and tear / stress whenever possible.

One thing I love about the Sony app (I realize it has its faults!) is the ability to instantly transfer/access/edit the 2mb images on my iPhone/iPad for social media use.

The snow is melting as the temperature is returning to more seasonal norms and the rain resumes. This little guy seemed pretty sure-footed, even as I struggled to stay upright this morning.

I do not own a dog and never have :( it's the one and only thing on my bucket list. In 7 years I take take work a little slower and my daughter who is allergic to dogs, will most likely be living in a warmer country :) that will be the time I get one. For the meantime, I just have to make do with photographing them.

Yesterday, I was wandering by an off-leash dog park when someone approached me and asked, "Where can I see your pictures?" Before I could say anything, the person beside her said, "Instagram. Here, let me show you." She whipped out her phone and brought up my Instagram feed. I wish I had taken a photo of them as they scrolled through.

I started that feed a few months ago. I couldn't have imagined that people would share it in person.

Here are a few shots from this morning.
