People Drag Night in Astoria

Yes, even small Astoria had a Drag Night. This was a few years past as the Covid-19 has closed a lot of things down. Never had been to a drag night so it was a first for me. Everybody had fun and that was what it was all about, gay, straight or otherwise.

I remembered this one which is as fun as it is flagrant. The fellow in the tights and tutu sets the tone.

Astoria is a strange town. The gay subculture was hidden for years. Then an influx of successful local businesses run by gay folks kind of made gay acceptable in this conservative town. Now it is NBD. After living the SF Bay Area for ~20 years "gay" is not news to me. And it is a comfort that these folks feel safe enough to let it all hang out at least once a year.
