April in Scotland: cold and dreary, even puts a damper on Golden Hour.
We got to Eilean Donan Castle very late in the day, so I guess I was lucky to get the shot before the light was gone entirely.

That castle is on my bucket list and I hope to photograph it one day.

How could you take a bad picture of a Castle? Like the man said, Lucky Bastard!

I offer this one tip for anyone that is going to photograph the castle. I took my pictures from position "A" designated below. Upon leaving, I drove north and failed to realize the photo opportunity from position "B". From here the sunset would have illuminated the castle rather than back-light it. I saw it in my rear view mirror and we were late to check in for the night's hotel, so I didn't get a second chance.

I envy the UK and Scottish members here, such beautiful places to photograph!
I could only make the trip across the pond due to the special occasion (my cousin's wedding, early April), so I really can't return on a whim to re-shoot any photos. That said, I will return some day. When I do, I'll do everything in my power to plan for a time of year when the hills have a bit more color in them from the heather in bloom and maybe, if I'm really lucky, some clearer skies.
