My home is part of a subdivision that was built on farmland over 25 years ago. My backyard is a wooded buffer between 'our' subdivision and the one to my east. I've chosen not to clear the brush, bramble and deadwood (as have too many others) as it gives the critters a place to hang out. At the base of one of my oak trees is a cluster of daffodils that were planted well before I arrived. It has bloomed faithfully every year and brings a welcome burst of color to an otherwise monotone wood-scape. I really do need to plant more bulbs to keep these guys company - such a huge return of long-term joy for only a little effort.[ATTACH=full]72563[/ATTACH]
