So there is a pond off of the highway we take into town that has some ducks in it. The pond is pretty yucky looking with neon green algae. I thought it might be interesting to take some shots of the ducks and would keep an eye on the lighting every time we drove by. Finally one day I stopped to take a few shots and once I zoomed into the ducks, I discovered that they are fake. I took a few shots anyway, so here they are.

Are they there for a reason? a rusty brain cell of mine seems to think that, originally, hunters used them to make real ducks feel safe to land.

A rural fire station backs up to one side of the pond and the other side is a residence. My guess is that the people who live next to it put in the decoys either to attract ducks to the pond or to give themselves something to look at.
