It was a beautiful afternoon so I took a trip to a lake on the Furman University campus to do some bird watching and take some photos. Ended up seeing or hearing 25 different species and got photos of 16. I came upon a solitary Great Blue Heron and pretty soon after seeing him he caught a fish. Here's a series of photos showing him catching and swallowing his lunch.

Had to get a drink to finish washing it down.

I had to recount the legs!

Great catch Rick! Sounds like a real good outing :)

Although I have taken countless photos of Great Blue Herons, it was only today that I witnessed one successfully catch a fish. To my surprise, another one repeated the feat just a few minutes later.
