Good to be here. Excited to try Sony from 4 decades of Nikon. Sold all my Nikon stuff and picked up an Alpha 6700. I finally gave up on Nikon's lack of support [after decades of waiting - hoping they would change] of smaller form factor APSC bodies and a wide lens selection for them for them through native and 3rd party companies. Despite Paul Simon's Kodachrome song, it pained my to leave Nikon, but I decided to make the jump to Sony APSC for smaller size - wider ranging options. I just got tired of big full frame gear that mostly sat at home, especially during my outdoor adventures. Mirrorless FF helped, but I guess I am often too old, lazy or broken to want to carry it now. I still enjoy the same things I did when I was younger: kitesurfing, climbing, skiing, biking and hiking, but I don't want big full frame gear to drag to the top of those endeavors anymore. Defaulting to the cell phone is just - uninspiring. Looking forward to going fast and light again a la Galen Rowell, my early hero. I think I made the right choice.

Welcome aboard Adam, I'm always glad to see more APSC users sign up 😃
Edit: I also have an A6700 and am enjoying it so far.

As I can see the sierras from my balcony, I was thinking of a potential meet up. Different continent however.

Welcome!

Welcome!
I'm sure your Sierras are just as gorgeous as mine. Mine are visible from my front porch also.

Welcome Adam and thanks for joining up here. The Sierra Nevada Mountains sounds like a beautiful place to call home.

Welcome Adam. Another newcomer to the A6700 here.

Welcome to the forum.

"Mirrorless FF helped, but I guess I am often too old, lazy or broken to want to carry it now." I recognize that. I'm old too. But I don't want to surrender yet.

East of the Sierra. Hwy 395. That's sounds like living in the "Walker Lane". During my visits to the US-west my interest in geology really got a boost. Beautiful scenery. Totally new for European eyes. I would like to visit it again, but as said, I'm to old now.
