I finally managed to get a shot of this little guy that I'm happy with. I'd spent 20 minutes scoping out some trees to see if he was about, turns out he was only a few meters away from me hiding behind an old combine harvester. I took a few shots then left him in peace.

Cunning little feller.
Well done.

Well spotted. I was on the look out for a barn owl yesterday, that I had been told about. How long is long enough to wait? But no joy.

You’re more likely to see barn owls early morning or late evening but sometimes they will be out in the day if they haven’t caught much during the night. Look for their droppings on potential perches as this makes it easier to spot them. You might have to wait a while unless you get lucky! Good luck!

Apparently it had been feeding in the daytime. Sometimes I just have t make the most of a little spare time I have during the day. But I will persevere.
