Recently got my old cameras out of the cupboard now I've sort of set my sights on a 7III or 7RIV so that has led me here....

Welcome to the forum Scotty. I’m also new to the site and looks absolutely great.

In a similar position to yourself, with having dabbled in phone and action cam photography for a while, and now looking at the Sony a series for something a bit more attune to modern photography. Although, I’ve recently picked up a sony a7ii as my first foray into the full frame and proper camera world. I’m tuning my skills and looking at additional lenses to get the most out of my new camera. Happy shooting!
