Hi and thanks for letting me join.
I’ve been on a journey of discovery for about 10 years now, moving originally from Pentax to Canon. Shot with Canon until recently when I thought I’d try M4/3. Was happy with the systems but not so with the images. Not wanting to spend $10K on the big white.
Moved alongside M4/3 with a Sony A1 and love it so moving completely to Sony for everything except macro. Looking now for a second body - maybe an A9 ii or A7R iv. Still deciding. Maybe this forum will help with that!

I converse most days with a friend who lives in Melbourne. He has taught me quite a lot of colourful greetings. My Nan, however was quite strict regarding my use of the vernacular. I'm still not sure about an afterlife, but the threat that she would wash my mouth out with soap is enough for me to err on the side of caution.

G'day! I grew up in Albury NSW. Left Oz in '75 and have never returned. I still get homesick for some things. Are you old enough to recall Cyclone Tracy? It did an awful amount of damage to Darwin and, I assume, the surrounding areas, but I'm not sure how much of the Northern Territory was affected. I imagine only those within a certain distance of the sea.
I think you'll be happy with your choice to move to Sony. I use the Sony A7RVI as my main camera. I also kept my Sony A7R IVA and had it converted to a full-spectrum camera, and I use that for infrared photography.

There are many lenses you can get for Sony, not just from Sony itself. You can get very good quality glass from Sigma and Tamron, and I have a collection of secondhand Zeiss lenses, which are absolutely excellent and made for the Sony camera.
I did own the A12 and the A93, but I didn't like either of them, so I no longer own them.

My second system is a Hasselblad X2D Mark II, which I use for stills. This is a much slower camera, but it has absolutely excellent picture quality, and usually the most I have to do is crop. Even then, I don't do that very often with what comes out of this camera.

It's worth every penny, but I would get settled into my Sony gear and glass. First and foremost, the Hasselblad is a luxury item that is extremely good, but not suitable for birds in flight or anything fast-moving. It's not a camera you actually need, and I'm just very lucky that I was able to get one. This photograph was taken with the A9iii. I did not part with that camera because of its lack of quality, but I just didn't need such a fast camera and 120 fps. I did not part with it until I had the 6, tried out its pre-capture and 30 fps, and discovered that even 20 fps is plenty for flying birds.
