So apparently we'll be hearing in two weeks time about some new toys.

The lens sounds good - I'd really like a non-extending 100-400 to fit between the 50-150 and the 400-800, but the price will be a factor. The extending nature of the existing 100-400 has put me off buying one for a long time. I know some people like it but I don't - Sony has convinced me that I want my telephoto zooms all fixed length, thanks

Oh, and there is some mention of a new camera, isn't there?

Have to say that I'm taking that rumour with at least some salt. I will wait to see what the specs according to Sony are. It is about the right timing for a new A7R body, but maybe they go a different way?

Do you have doubts about the rumoured specs? Is there something more you want?

Unless the price is really stupid-expensive, I'll be placing an order for the 100-400 once they are announced.

🎉

I sold my old 100-400 years ago, can't say I've missed it too much for what I shoot, which is not a lot lately! :) Still, nice to see some new glass and I'm sure it will sell well.

I am getting quite TIRED of the vast number of armchair experts pronouncing how Sony cannot possibly release a camera with the rumoured specs because it will “kill” the A1 II.

I guess we’ll have to wrap our A1 II cameras in tin foil during the announcement so they don’t receive the radio signals from Sony that will destroy the camera. That is what they were warning against, right?

I am hoping that the rumours are accurate, and that Sony has held back one or two little surprises… like maybe the EVF is higher resolution? Or maybe the CFeA support has jumped up to V4? Or they will support transfer of images from card to USB key plugged into a USB-C slot?

But no matter what, it won’t “kill” the A1 II for me. I have shot over a quarter million frames on the A1 II. This, and the A9 III, have already given me plenty of pleasure. Bring me another amazing camera, and I will line it up besides those two. It may well replace the A7RV, but that is to be expected.
