  1. Yes
Our June monthly competition is closed for entries but open for voting.

Please Include Metadata with Images Submitted.

Theme

For this month our theme will be "Motion". If you need a little inspiration then head over to our Motion Challenge Thread or take a look a Flickr.

Competition Dates
Entries start: The date that this post is published.
Entries end: June 21st
Voting starts: June 21st
Voting ends: June 28th

Shot Taken Date
Images can be taken anytime, there is no restriction like we had in 2024 for images to be taken in the current or previous two months.

What Do I Get if I Win?
I'm afraid now it's just the joy of taking part, but I will look into adding a special profile banner to winners profiles. In the past there have been vouchers for 1st and 2nd places, but we want to try and encourage people to enter without dangling a voucher code in front of them.

How to Enter + Rules
  1. Post your entries in this thread by scrolling down to the reply box then hitting the 'upload images' button. Insert image as full not thumbnail.
  2. Sony cameras only.
  3. Camera metadata must be included in the images to verify.
  4. Only one photo entry per member.
  5. Keep the photos clean and family friendly.
  6. Please don't use sky replacements or AI image generation.
  7. You are free to change you image during the entry period.
  8. Not essential but it would be nice if you added a little background information on your entry.
How to Vote (when voting opens)
  1. Use the vote button (up arrow) to the right of the post (below post on mobile) to vote up images that you like
  2. You can vote on as many images as you like apart from your own

OK I'll go first....My son has a 11 second VW Golf and I'm using a 10 stop ND filter hand held starting from a red light. The squiggly lines are when he starts off and then as he goes faster the light lines smooths out. Shot just after sunset so a blue hour shot.

Here is a long exposure of the nighttime boat traffic at Lake McClure's Barrett Cove over the 4th of July weekend 2025, about an hour after the fireworks show.

There is a group of large moored houseboats at the back of the cove.

This was taken from about 2.5 miles away.

I'm going to try and get a better shot this year:)

Visited Busch Gardens Tampa with some friends and we arrived just in time for the Cheetah Run attraction. Pictures do not do them justice.

Siphon Jet Motion Beneath the Surface
Captured at dawn at Crescent Beach as the receding tide revealed the mud flats as the sun came up.

A clam’s exhalant siphon jet. I went out looking for swallows, but the only real motion came from beneath the surface.

This duckling was chasing dragonflies for food. He's all wings and feet, (or flippers???) It took me several days and many, many shots to get this shot. These lil' buggers are faster than I thought. I'm still learning...

This is my entry for "motion." I've been experimenting with ICM, particularly colorful subjects. This one was taken with my new A7RM6. It is a photo of a colorful oil painting of a Napa vineyard.

My entry for 'Motion'. It shows a painted stork about to land. This is taken at a place called Bhigwan (Maharashtra, India), which is popular among birdwatchers and photographers. Clicked on 18th June 2026 (three days back). Camera used is Sony a7c ii and lens is Tamron 150-500 mm. Image is edited for some HDR only (adjusting shadows and brightness and color saturation).
