A series of shots I took yesterday of a Kookaburra which took a juvenile Blackbird from in front of me and proceeded to bash it to death on a tree branch. I also got a short video of it to demonstrate how violent it was.

WOW. Never seen anything like that before! Well captured. Good to see it feeding on a feral bird at least.
 
Amazing photos, and I absolutely love the muted colors particularly for this subject!

Thanks, kookaburras are an introduced species in Tasmania too. While native on mainland Australia, they were bought into the island state with the idea they would control snakes! They do of course eat snakes, lizards and just about anything else they can get hold of including other birds.
