Hello all,

I’ve been shooting Sony cameras since the a100. A lot has changed since then, and it’s hard to keep up with all the new ideas. That’s why I joined this forum. I’m currently mystified by the range of telephoto lenses out there for Sony full-frame, so that’s where I’ll start engaging on the forums.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome, I too used to be mystified. Then I started sorting my fishing tackle out in the garage. I realised that despite all the old stuff being attractive to the fish, I couldn't resist buying a new lure now and again. Who was being caught?

Hello all,

Exactly the model I started with and have upgraded until I reached the A7RVI! I had the A1ii and A9iii but didn't like them and sold them on.

All I can say is that I'm very happy with it. I didn't think I would ever part with my 5, and even though the 6 is so much better, I still had trouble selling the 5, but I did. I didn't need it.

I would see if you can try it out somewhere. As usual, the menus are very long. The thing I like about it the most, of course, is the increased megapixels and the fact that it does pre-capture at up to 30 fps. I found that 20 fps was enough for birds in flight.

It is, of course, a superb camera, but I would be very surprised to ever be saying anything different about a Sony camera. The choice must be yours. Just because I love it doesn't mean you will. The photo is unedited.
