I shoot with a Sony a7R4 and I’m looking for a one size fits all lens to take on my international trips. Carrying multiple lenses for a casual vacation is feeling like a lot these days. I’d like to be able to just have one lens on my body for my upcoming trip to France and Italy. What are your recommendations for an excellent wide angle to zoom, something like 24 to 200? I’m open to all brands.

Hello Michele!

I purchased a Tamron 25-200mm f/2.8-5.6 last year - it makes for a nifty all-in-one walking around or travel lens. Very nice image and build quality!

Similarly, you may want to look into the Sigma 20-200mm f/3.5-6.3. Its a bit slower, a bit wider and a bit more expensive.

Have fun!

if you are mainly shooting outdoors in good light I like the Sony 24-240. I personally chose to use my Samyang 35-150 f/2-2.8 because I was shooting a lot indoors as well on a vacation.

To be honest, if it was me, I would just take my Sony RX100M7. I used it on several full days on my trip to Tasmania last year & the results are fantastic. Especially if you are shooting RAW & use a good RAW processor.

If I was buying a lens for an a7R4 with the specs you list I would go for the Tamron. But you also need to shoot RAW & use a good RAW processor to get the best out of it I think.

With a 61 mega pixel camera you can crop in quite a bit so not too much of an issue cutting back on the long end. I use the Sony 24-105 f4 which I found to be a great lens for the price.
