Memory Apocalypse - Up to 50% Increase in Prices Already!

Slight confusion there. I was talking about replacing the firmware on the CARD. Admittedly, that’s a rare need, but there were reports of issues with OWC cards (early this year?) which required an update to the cards to get them to work reliably with a particular camera.

So far I have seen no issues with any combination of card and reader brands - probably because the makers are following the card specs quite closely.

Oh, I believe there was a case where a particular brand of V2 card claimed a somewhat faster read speed, but only in the own brand reader (something like 900 or 950 from a V2 card - I think the V2 spec tops out at 800?). But the cards worked fine at normal speeds in other brands of reader, so I don’t count that as a problem.
Oh thank heavens for that I have never had to update a card either so this is all new to me.

There was mention on PetaPixel that Prograde is raising their prices (I think in Japan, to start with).

I think we'll have to expect more price rises.

BTW: I notice that Sony's prices on their V4 CFeA cards are noticeably lower than on the V2 cards. Don't know how long that's going to last.

ProGrade prices for CFeA are indeed going up....
