The National firefighters memorial, represents firefighters fighting to save London at the height of the Blitz. It's located just to the South of St Paul's Cathedral. Conceived as a tribute to those men and women firefighters who fought in London during the Blitz (57 consecutive nights of heavy bombing) it was rededicated in 1998 as a national monument to all UK firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. On the plinth are the names of all UK firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
