Needle of Kent

Not sure how your wallet looks, but the Tamron 28-200 provides some really nice results at a reasonable price, with a very useable range. Great walkabout lens. Another alternative, though not as long, is the 24-105.

That 28-200 is above my retirement-pay grade, sad to say - but I watch used prices just in case.
I do have this relatively speedy Σ 28-105 in PK mount, along with their 70-300 Apo from the same pre-DG era; both zoom 'backward' to us non-Canon veterans, but at least they both go the same way! I haven't tested them rigorously as I'm more commonly using Pentax primes - but I should. The 70-300 tested pretty well when it arrived, but the 28-105 has a pretty wide range of scores in its web-wide reviews.

That is quite an impressive needle, by the way!

Jim, I love the GM 70-200mm f2.8 II so not sure I need a 100mm zoom. What I need though is something at the other end of the range, so the 28-200mm could do the job, but it would have to be significantly better than my GM 70-200mm to get me to move. Alternatively, I just need to get something like a 35mm and carry it around with me. But once again, I'm not a big fan of changing lens in the field. I could go for two cameras, but then I'd have to carry two cameras, and I love how my A7iv and 70-200mm is so light! Guess I may have to put up with my A7iv + 70-200mm + Iphone14 Pro.

I edited the above image in PS to try and brighten up the church tower and the clouds. I used the dodge tool - still learning how to use this. What do you think, is it an improvement on the above image?

Subtle change, but yes an improvement.
