These are Pied Currawongs - of the Corvid family and smart too.

They've learned just to open a hole in the orange that's fallen to the grass, avoiding eating any more pith than necessary. They then peck out the sweet flesh almost completely hollowing out the shell.
They've learned that dropping the orange on some corrugated iron holds it steady, or even better, to clamp it into a pocket of a mesh fence.

Wonderful images of these so clever little buggers.
We don't have them my way so its nice to see them and the smarts they have making them a step above the crowd.

I am in Mildura which is in the Northwest of Victoria.
We are on the Murray River which is the border to us and NSW.
