Single shot moon images - thread

This is last night's Small Blue Moon (about 5.5-7% smaller than mean). I thought it was going to be a compete blowout with increasing cloud before sunset. I managed to catch a bit of a break in the cloud just after 10:00. Has anyone heard of the Golden Handle? I am going to make that my next project in a couple of weeks or so. Weather permitting. It's official first day of winter here today.

Hi Richard, that's a great image of the moon. Where did you take it, I'm trying to figure out based on the location of Tycho. If the photograph was taken near Melbourne I think I'd expect Tycho to be further North (moon rotated counter clockwise) or about 180 deg from the Northern Hemisphere views (from London).

Thanks. It was taken from the footpath in front of my house. It was very cloudy but the cloud was moving quite quickly. I was going outside every 15 mins or so and finally caught the moon in a bit of a gap. This was taken hand held as no time to muck around with a tripod. So, to answer your question - about 12km south of the Adelaide CBD.

Thanks Richard, is the orientation of the moon correct or did you reorientate in post? Just asking as I'm trying to understand the position of Tycho.

I haven’t changed the orientation at all.
