here are some pictures taken recently using the 90mm sony macro lens ,i hired the lens for this shoot ,which has sort of edged me towards the sony over the sigma ,even if the sigma has better optical quality ,i find the sony most acceptable .Sorry not full res images .

They are beauties. I don't think you would be able to see much difference with the Sigma. It is a bit cheaper, but not loads.

Your right kev the sony is excellent i would probably choose it over the sigma for af reasons ,even this felt a little slow to some lenses i have used in the past if the sigma is worse then it would be the sony for me ,
 
I'll keep an eye on some comparison tests.
