Hi everyone, I would like to know if a 2x converter would be any good with my Sony 55-210 mainly to save money on a hugely expensive lens. Thanks. (please be nice )

unfortunately there isn't a 2x converter for that lens.
The Sony converters are, unfortunately, not universal and they only work with specific FE (full-frame) lenses.

Hi FowlersFreeTime, Thank for answering my question, I'll keep saving my pocket money...LoL, (y)
Dave, to give you something to save towards, consider the APSC Sony 70-350mm or the Full Frame Tamron 50-300mm, when you're ready to buy. Both have optical stabilization built into the lens: Sony calls it optical steady shot (OSS), Tamron calls it vibration control (VC); which would be beneficial since your camera body does not have in-body image stabilization (IBIS)

As a guideline, the only lenses that support the 1.4x and 2x teleconverters are white. To make it worse, there is at least one white lens which does not support a teleconverter (the original 70-200mm f/4 G does not; the replacement 70-200mm f/4 G II does); I am not sure if there is another white lens which does not support teleconverters.

The reason is that Sony teleconverters have a part which sticks into the lens, and the lens must be designed to have room for it (it is part of the design).

The other thing you might ask is if you can put a teleconverter onto a Sigma lens or Tamron lens, or another brand. No, Sony teleconverters only support Sony lenses (and only some of them).

To add to this, only Sony teleconverters work on Sony cameras. I learned this the hard way by purchasing a Sigma 150-600 thinking I would add a Sigma TC. I did not do my homework. I now use Sony TC’s with my Sony 200-600 (sold the Sigma because I needed the extra reach) and love the results. I had hiked all day to see nesting owls only to find at 600 they were still too far away.
