About This Download​

Things To Keep in Mind Before Performing the Update​

• Updates should be installed in chronological order. When updating from Ver. 1.32 or earlier, you need to update to Ver. 2.01 first before proceeding with the Ver. 4.00 update.
• The update software for this product will be provided in the memory card version.
• You can download the software update using the Creators' App available in the App Store and Google Play.

Benefits and Improvements​

• Adapts the display layout of shooting information for both horizontal and vertical viewing
• Adds the Spot: XL and Spot: XS options to the Spot section of the Focus Area menu
• Adds the Custom 1, Custom 2, and Custom 3 options to the Custom section of the Focus Area menu
• Adds the Tracking: Spot XL, Tracking: Spot XS, Tracking: Custom 1, Tracking: Custom 2, and Tracking: Custom 3 options to the Tracking section of the Focus Area menu
• Allows simultaneous deletion and rating of images stored on both memory card slot 1 and slot 2
• Allows the display of folder and file names during playback
• Allows you to cancel the scheduled transfer of selected images during FTP transfer
• Adds support for the following Transfer & Taggingsettings:
  • A setting to automatically schedule FTP transfer of protected still images from FTP Import
  • A setting to automatically schedule FTP transfer of protected still images and videos from FTP Upload Preset
  • A setting to automatically protect still images transferred via FTP from FTP Upload Preset
    • The latest version of the Transfer & Tagging app is necessary.
    • The Transfer & Tagging setting may not be available in some countries or regions.
• Supports the following Monitor & Controlapp functions:

• Fixes an issue where continuous shooting may not resume for 1 to 2 seconds after the end of a continuous shooting session
• Fixes an issue where the multi-selector on the vertical grip may not function correctly

Yes just done it, it is almost the same as the a75r update, and I only did that on Sunday.

There have been anecdotal reports that this firmware should be withdrawn. Only a couple of reports, though. Interestingly, one of the claimed symptoms matched one of the things that the firmware fixes…

I’d wait a few weeks before installing it.

However, I didn’t wait before installing V4 firmware on the A1 II and A9 III - do what I say, not what I do?

It guides you through it Steve on Sony UK support page in MY case, it is basically incremental and done one update at a time via sd card.

Thanks Gary , will give it a bit more thought , bag of nerves moving from 1.31 as the camera still works like a dream so didnt want to risk wrecking it after the major fiasco.

Got out after I updates to v4 and I like it. The more you update it gets easier...from v2.1 then to v4.

I'm in the same boat, my A1 still on 1.31 and really don't feel the need to upgrade, if it ain't broke, i could update it and then break it haha
