Hi Craig, thank you for the photos. How are you handling small birds that are close to you with this lens? I am seriously considering this lens due to its weight. At this time, I primarily use my 400-800 for birds. It allows me to capture the warbler on a branch in front of me. Of course I have to then deal with the 400-800 weight. I would love to get your thoughts on how you are using this lens in the field. Are you carrying a second lens with you? I can see from your photos it handles birds at a distance beautifully. I haven't used the 400-800 so I don't know if the listed minimum focus distance of 1.7m is for the 400 or 800 length, seems that would be on the 400 side. The minimum focus distance for the 600mm is 2.5m (~8.5ft) which is basically the same that the 200-600 has of 2.4m.
