Sony Scene Tradeshow 2025

I just got an email from Sony saying that they are having their Scene Tradeshow in Sydney again in September. I don't know if this is applicable to anyone on here but I went last year and it was definitely worth going to, in my opinion. I won't be able to go this year because I am going to Tasmania but looks like it might become a regular thing.

As an aside, I am going to a Sony "Ask an Expert" coffee morning organised by Diamonds Cameras in Adelaide in a couple of weeks. Might be interesting...

I received the same email. I think they should alternate between Sydney and Melbourne! We have plenty of good places to hold a trade show...

Yes. Maybe they're trying to gauge if it's worth having it every year before they decide to maybe move it around the country. Who knows. I can't see them ever having it here in Adelaide though.

I also got the email. I took a look and saw that it was in Sydney again and essentially said to myself, interesting but too far away to fit in with the rest of my life right now.

Sony have run roadshows in Melbourne before, pre-Covid. Haven't had one since. Not the same as a full-on trade show, but better than nothing.

As I said in my IR Filter Experiment topic recently, I went to a Sony "Ask An Expert" coffee morning a couple of weeks ago which was organised by Diamonds Cameras here in Adelaide. I didn't really have any questions to ask but went along just to see what happens at these things. It was interesting just talking to the other Sony users there. The local Sony rep, Peter Jackson, had quite a lot of gear to look at but I was mostly just chatting away. Anyway, it was an enjoyable hour or so for something different.

They said they had a couple of things they had done before in the pipeline so I am now registered to do a night time city street walk on Wednesday week. This coincides with the Illuminate Adelaide Festival. Part of that is where they light up all the iconic buildings along North Terrace here so it will be a good opportunity to try out some different lenses. I have decided I will try to support these events if for no other reason than it will hopefully keep them running and maybe come up with ideas for other ones.

I believe they are organising an Astro night in October with a photographer named Will Goddard which would be good. I hope I can make it as I am going to Tasmania for a couple of weeks that month.

Anyway, just a bit of info. Do they run stuff like this where you live? Have you ever been to any events?
