Stacking practice with a shell

Found this little shell by the local stream. Focusing was a little more difficult than I thought but probably could have been easier if I was using a different location and lighting.

Question: Was your initial focal point at the base of the shell or at the tip of its reflection - i.e.. the lowest point of the photo? (I suspect it's the latter).
 
nice, how many layers did you stack? I need to make time to do similar practice.

This needed to be manually focused because the autofocus wasn't happy that there were open points in the feature. This was 6 images and I did near and far side for both actual and reflection plus two areas around the middle. The middle area was the most difficult because with the shape it was just hard to tell what was actually in focus.
nice, how many layers did you stack? I need to make time to do similar practice.
6 photos. Setup was just having the shell sitting on an old tablet. Less about the setup and more about just taking the 15 minutes to actually work on it.
 
Really should have called this thread "messing around with stuff at the table"
