Impressive job! I like the clouds instead of the more typical sunny day.

Just curious why vertical images, since the panorama is an extended horizontal and would have needed fewer horizontal images?

I guess out of habit. It seems to be what everyone is doing. It was recommended to me many years ago when I was using a 6MP DSLR as it gives you more resolution and more room to crop as you typically need to after stitching a panorama. Bear in mind also that this is a 20MP camera.
