Here are a few of the photos I got of the eclipse from Monday. We travelled to Killeen, Texas to visit family and see the eclipse. I had everything set up hoping for clear skies but didn't get some of the shots I hoped to get due to cloudy conditions. I had to be content to shoot when it was possible rather than evenly space shots out and didn't get the diamond ring shots this time.

Just a minute or so before 1st contact you can see how cloudy it was.

I did get a photo of 1st contact as the clouds cleared enough. You can see the slight indention on the right side of the sun. This shot is one that I adjusted in Lightroom to approximate the look through solar film rather than the filter I was using that results in the sun being white.

Just as totality started the clouds cleared. This shot shows the prominences pretty well.

I took bracketed shots and combined them in Photoshop to get this shot of totality and the corona. I had planned to also do a similar stack of photos at f16 or higher to try and get the start beam shots I've seen. After the first set of photos I wanted to just take it in with my family and was able to do that. About the time I was ready to take the next set at the higher aperture the clouds covered it and I wasn't able to get more shots.

I was able to get many more shots after totality since the clouds cleared more.

Thanks for looking and please feel free to post your shots here. I'd love to see them.

Very cool!

I posted mine in the School Me thread. I was the DFW area and ended up in McKinney, TX after my group did a lot of checking weather/cloud reports. We had a mix of sun/clouds leading up to totality and then got like a 7 min opening just before totality. After totality we had a long period of clouds till it was like 20% covered so didn't bother with any post totality shots. I would love to experience totality again.

Superb pics. For a cloudy day, you were very lucky to get this much. I quite like the "look" that the clouds are giving in some pics.

You did vastly better than I did in England, 2000-something. That was nothing but cloud.

wow, I really feel like I missed out. I guess I have until 2045 to practice 😅
I might start saving up for a July 22 2028 in AUS. Totality is something worth experiencing and that one will be 5+ mins. Also I think I can do better with my shots.

I'm starting to do a bit of planning for that one as well. It will be a long road trip, but I think worth it.

So am I. Unfortunately, most of the area it crosses is very remote and very inhospitable.
