These birds live in groups of 12 or more in some cases, and they are known to look after the young of others. The can be hard to get as they are flighty and if you are lucky as I was they will go to a spot where you are walking to and then you get your shots. I think these have got a built in thing to know you camera lens length. When I was using the 400mm they tended to stay at about the 500mm distance and now with the 600 mm they have moved up further. I am not kidding on this as it happens all the time. There are a couple of type of these which are this one then there is the Chestnut-crowned Babbler and the Grey-crowned plus and finally the Halls Babbler.

Excellent Ralph. Cracking little birds, I've seen them in zoo aviaries here.

:ROFLMAO: ... But I can believe it! Can almost see it in that bird's face!

Just wait until you get a camera with bird-eye autofocus. They will totally avoid you!

Well this is something I never knew that that so thank you for that.
Nice little bird and well taken.
Thanks so very much

Thanks for that now I'm not too sure if I really want to get one with birds eye focus one in the camera.
But seriously I still would like to get one with that. As when I hand the Sigma 400mm I had to get so much more closer than
the rest of the group and many of them couldn't work out how I got as close as I did.
But the 600mm gives you so much more freedom. And to learn the Birds Eye focus would be so good I think.

Well, I admire your birders... but I'm unlikely to join the ranks. Apart from casual shots in the garden (and I did get some nice nesting-sunbird pics once --- the nest was outside our kitchen window).

I was able to get hands-on with a friend's new 200-600 recently. There are some aspects of photography that actually need muscle. And I don't have much. I could hold it --- but not still. IBIS is cleverer than I thought!

Plus... I do love the birds, and the bird pics, but somehow prefer photographing people!

Nice shots of a nice little bird Ralph.

I was afraid you were showing images of me..
