Your Photo of the Week

Week 36 after missing a couple due to another house move. I caught this heron in flight whilst shooting red kites in Wales.

Week 4. Mrs Sparrowhawk in my garden again this morning. Taken through double glazing so not super sharp, especially at 10000 ISO

Week 37. Made a quick trip to Bwlch Nant yr Arian in Mid Wales last week to shoot the red kites there. On a good day you'll get around 150 kites turn up to feed.

Cheers Kev. Had one fly over the house yesterday but was too high for a shot. No need to go to Wales anymore! :)
Haha. nice one. Not seen one yet here, though have at Horsey in the past. Plenty of Eagles though. F15s out of Lakenheath

I do love the Eagles. Never got a decent shot of one though. I'm going to make a trip to the Mach Loop soon and hope for the best. Last time I visited an A400M went through and that was it, better than nothing though! I might get lucky around here at some point as they also fly low over Clee Hill occasionally.

Some days, they are very low to the house, and with burners on shake the windows. Trouble is you hear them long before they come into view. Hard to spot after.

Week 5.A very long distance, probably 75 yards, shot of Buzzards fighting over territory at Winterton. Fantastic to watch, and I am always impressed at how well the RIV and 200 600 cork with things like this, didn't miss a shot in a sequence of 8 or so, using expanded spot with tracking again.

Week 6. All by myself |:D Fieldfare. A bird that I've long wanted a close shot of. This is the closest so far. Incredibly flighty birds.

Lovely shot Kev! I really appreciate your efforts with this challenge! :) I've not had chance to get out over the last week, determined to shoot something this week though! So watch this space! :) We get fieldfares on the farm now and again, but like you say they are very difficult to get close to.

Week 38. Finally the sun was shining and I actually had time to get out. Thought I'd try out the 70-200 F2.8 GM Mk II with the 2x teleconverter. The AF was still pretty snappy in good light and shooting perched birds like this little blue tit. I hope to get time to compare the combination properly with my 100-400 soon since this comparison comes up quite often.

That's not bad Tim, maybe a little soft with the 2x?

I expect it's a little softer with the 2x but definitely very usable still and plenty of feather details. This was cropped to 3000px. Just an out of camera jpeg as I'm a very lazy photo editor! :) I'd definitely like to shoot some similar images with my 100-400 to compare.

Week 7. A male Mandarin in a local (ish) country park that currently has 2 very elusive (hence no photo!) Bittern. Lovely, colourful chap.

A bit of humor for you guys. I know I’ve been pestering you all with my questions. I got roses and this photo book for Valentine’s Day. My new camera isn’t here yet. This pic is with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. Thank you.

Week 9. I've been really busy decorating so not been out much, despite some lovely sunshine (with a bloody cold wind!) This is a previously unposted shot of the stunning Glossy Ibis last week. Awesome bird

Lovely shot Kev, never even seen one myself before. Hope the decorating is going well! We still hope to complete later this month or early next, but we aren't getting excited until we have the keys in hand!

Cheers Tim. They are becoming more common now, so you should get chance. Hope you finally get moved soon

Week 10. Definitely a most Spring Like day today, and plenty of Bumble Bees out to show for it too.

Very nice Kev! I've not spotted one yet, I might just need to open my eyes a little more! I did spot a red admiral in Sainsbury's car park the other week though! We hope to exchange contracts next week, but we are still not holding our breath!

Fingers crossed Tim. I'm sure it's getting very boring now.

Just a tad! Pretty exhausted with it all. Definitely not planning to move again anytime soon! Fortunately it’s a bungalow so we could stay there well into our retirement. We are already calling it our retirement home 😀

You can't beat a Bungalow, love ours, though ours is our retirement home :)

:) I was put off stairs after slipping down them in an old flat and fracturing my foot. I figured that's only going to happen more often as I get older so best avoid them whenever possible! :)

Lol. Wise choice. I hate stairs now :)
