I have had my pre-owned Seestar S50 for quite a few months now but have had little chances to use it. I was driving home on Thursday afternoon and suddenly realised the sky was very clear. When I got home I did a bit of research and it looked like it was going to be clear all night. So I made a decision - get out the Seestar and let's go. Except it wasn't that simple. The Seestar app had been updated with many changes including a firmware update for the telescope. I was a bit disorganised but I headed off down the coast to Carrickalinga which is the closest reasonably dark spot. I had trouble setting everything up. I was trying out Equatorial mode for the first time. Anyway, I got started and after a few hiccups, had a bit of success. I have also been experimenting with post processing a couple of images I took a few months ago, finally with a bit of success. Anyway here they are. Firstly the couple I took in February.

These are all very impressive! Much better than most Seestar images I've seen.

Nice!

I'm jealous of your clear skies! Most of eastern North America is shrouded in haze and smoke.

We've had a severe lack of clear skies recently to be honest. That's why I decided to go down the coast at the last minute on Thursday night even though I was a bit disorganised. Recently, even if the sky has been relatively clear during the day, the clouds roll in around sunset. Anyway, hopefully things are on the improve now. I have made a big advance in post processing but there is still a way to go yet. And still more to learn about the more advanced features of the S50.

You should include struggling with your equipment in your work flow, those are great pieces! LOL

i am not only jealous of your dark skies, I am also jealous of the many objects you have in the southern hemisphere which are invisible from England - the Magellanic Clouds, Omega Centauri, Alpha Centauri, the Eta Carina nebula, the Jewel Box cluster, and many others, plus the best views of the Milky Way. The only thing you don't have is a decent pole star.
