What? No new lenses?

:p

Congrats on the A7RVI - it sounds like a sweet platform!

I am sorely tempted by the new 100-400 f/4.5, but I will wait to heft it - see how it balances in the hand.

The A7RVI, on the other hand, caused me no doubt at all 🤓

Currently looking at pricing on an extra battery, but no one has stock (my favourite dealer has something like 100 of them backordered). Interesting to see a variety of prices - list is/was $189, but I see prices of $159, $149, even $139 - impressive discount on something brand-new.

My A7RVI has shipped but i made the mistake of ordering an extra battery at the same time, so now instead of shipping by air I have to wait until next week for it because it was shipped by ground because of the battery.
Also bought the Lexar Professional WorkFlow Go so I can maybe leave my laptop at home while traveling and still back up the cards, Also add some new faster Lexar CF Express cards for the new camera

Also sold my A7RV, GM 14mm lens and some batteries

Just got a nice new 13" M5 Macbook Air (with 32gb and 1tb) this past week. I've been using Windows for the last 30 years, but after being increasingly frustrated with some aspects of the OS over the past few years, it got me thinking about the possibility of switching to a Mac or linux. While most computer equipment involving memory or ssds has spiked in price enormously recently, Mac prices have just stayed the same. So last week I decided to pull the trigger and get one. It's been a bit of a learning process getting used to some of the differences. But most everything important I used on my old Windows computer (DxO Photolab, Affinity, and FilmLab) seems to work just fine on the new Mac.

So can't find the old thread about recent new gear purchases so here is a new one.

For me I have been messing around with macro more and more and decided that after getting my tax return I was going to pickup some kind of flash kit. After some reviews I have landed on the Godox MF-12 2 light ring kit (their website is slow). Starting with the two flash set and will see how it goes, also I think this gives me more options than a ring flash would.
Wow, that’s an impressive flash set up. I didn’t know they had one like that. Looking forward to seeing your work.
I’m wondering why they don’t have a flash ring.
Happy with my Godox for Sony.

Pretty much all the stuff in the Small Things with Legs has me using that setup. Some of the more recent I have added a defuser. A ring light might be easer but this setup also allows me to have two flashes I can setup anywhere.
