What Photography Related Item Have You Bought or Sold This Week?

What? No new lenses?

:p

Congrats on the A7RVI - it sounds like a sweet platform!

I am sorely tempted by the new 100-400 f/4.5, but I will wait to heft it - see how it balances in the hand.

The A7RVI, on the other hand, caused me no doubt at all 🤓

Currently looking at pricing on an extra battery, but no one has stock (my favourite dealer has something like 100 of them backordered). Interesting to see a variety of prices - list is/was $189, but I see prices of $159, $149, even $139 - impressive discount on something brand-new.

My A7RVI has shipped but i made the mistake of ordering an extra battery at the same time, so now instead of shipping by air I have to wait until next week for it because it was shipped by ground because of the battery.
Also bought the Lexar Professional WorkFlow Go so I can maybe leave my laptop at home while traveling and still back up the cards, Also add some new faster Lexar CF Express cards for the new camera

Also sold my A7RV, GM 14mm lens and some batteries

Just got a nice new 13" M5 Macbook Air (with 32gb and 1tb) this past week. I've been using Windows for the last 30 years, but after being increasingly frustrated with some aspects of the OS over the past few years, it got me thinking about the possibility of switching to a Mac or linux. While most computer equipment involving memory or ssds has spiked in price enormously recently, Mac prices have just stayed the same. So last week I decided to pull the trigger and get one. It's been a bit of a learning process getting used to some of the differences. But most everything important I used on my old Windows computer (DxO Photolab, Affinity, and FilmLab) seems to work just fine on the new Mac.

So can't find the old thread about recent new gear purchases so here is a new one.

For me I have been messing around with macro more and more and decided that after getting my tax return I was going to pickup some kind of flash kit. After some reviews I have landed on the Godox MF-12 2 light ring kit (their website is slow). Starting with the two flash set and will see how it goes, also I think this gives me more options than a ring flash would.
Wow, that’s an impressive flash set up. I didn’t know they had one like that. Looking forward to seeing your work.
I’m wondering why they don’t have a flash ring.
Happy with my Godox for Sony.

Pretty much all the stuff in the Small Things with Legs has me using that setup. Some of the more recent I have added a defuser. A ring light might be easer but this setup also allows me to have two flashes I can setup anywhere.

My EYE CUP - FDAEP19 from Speedy Spares has finally shipped. I must have missed out on the in stock ones recently. On this occasion they weren't very speedy unfortunately. Australia post aren't very speedy either.

I hope you ordered the FDA-EP21 - that's the soft big one - the EP19 is the one it replaces.

To my annoyance Sony Australia is now selling them (finally! after over a year), and a bit cheaper than Speedy Spares (at the moment). But I did get mine, and I have it on the A7RVI.

I have the same with a 15" screen. I have been a MAC user for at least 15 years. I used Windows in my working life, but never at home. Make sure all of the software you are using is a version that is for Apple Silicon or Universal if available. Some is Intel, but it still works, but not as efficiently or as fast on the M series of processors. Most major software programs automatically load the Apple Silicon or Universal. Just something to keep in mind.

Good to know.

Just bought the new Xperia 1 VIII. They talk fondly of its upgraded cameras and sensor, specially the 70mm telephoto so looking forward to receiving it later this month.
The camera on that phone looks amazing. Is it a full frame sensor? I look forward to seeing some of your photos taken with the new phone.

new Xperia 1 VIII

Sony moved out of the Indian mobile-phone market quite a few years ago: it took me a few moments to think what that would be!

Way back then, I always liked the look of their phones, but never actually got my hands on one.

It says "full frame performance" so I take it as it's not full frame but good enough.

This was taken a few weeks ago with my Xperia 5 IV. The new one is four generations later and allegedly there's been a big jump in the VIII's spec so we'll see.

Yeah, now they're only releasing their phones in Japan and Europe markets I think.

Good thing about them is that with the Photo app you get a menu very similar to the Alpha cameras and you can manage all parameters there. But you have to invest time and effort, so they're not as popular as other phones with a more immediate and automatic approach.

It is NOT much, but I am slowly making my way to the acquisition of the A1 ii. I just purchased the high-speed CFExpress Class A memory cards and the high-speed reader. Once they get here I'll need a camera body to put them to good use. What am I waiting for? Just trying to be disciplined for once. All three are from Nextorage.

liking the A7RVi, still debating whether to stay with my A1 as the other body or going full A7RVI with two of the same bodies for the first time in a few years

Not Sony (don't hate me), but I bought a Fuji GF32-64mm lens from B&H for my GFX100II. Fuji glass can get really pricy, and it was $500 off, so I'm a happy camper.

After a lot of time and thought, I decided that the a7R VI was the best camera body for me and my photography priorities. I am presently studying all of it features and capabilities. I am looking forward to taking it out and putting to the test. I have two batteries and two CFExpress Type A cards. All ready to go.

I found a dealer who had received a small shipment of NP-SA100 batteries, and snagged his last one. Phew! Now I have two batteries for the A7R6, which makes me feel more confident taking it out as my only body.

I have another coming when my regular dealer gets their first shipment, but Sony has been telling them "next week" since the start of the month (when the bodies arrived). Three will be plenty.

I must admit to wondering what the next body to get this battery will be (maybe the rumoured FX5?). I do suspect this battery will be in the next ten A9 and A1 bodies.

@CrankinSteve - did you get a second battery?

BTW: one of the first things I did was replace the split rings on the strap mounts - I took off the triangular Sony rings and replaced them with the nice oval Peak Design rings - they are much nicer to use with Peak Design anchors (probably with others, too). And you get a set of the oval rings in the box with the replacement anchors, so they are cheap to get, too (and the pack includes the really neat plastic tool to get the rings on and off the camera).

I ordered and received the second battery from Amazon. The seller was Focus Camera LLC. With the double battery charger and two batteries I have no worries.
