I spent the morning digging thru boxes in my basement - looking for items that can be donated to Goodwill. And I found some of my old mid-80s audio hardware!

  • ISO 40000

Every moment of my time at home usually had some tunes playing. I wanted to test the tape deck, but to my dismay, could not locate a single tape!

This is even more appalling because I have this hanging on my living room wall... Does anyone remember this?

At this point I would assume that any tape I found might not be in playable condition unless of course it was a Maxell. I sold off my setup that had a tape deck in the 90s after I got a PC with a CD-R.

I've been playing my Pro-ject turntable today, after giving a couple of vinyls a thorough clean with my Pro-ject cleaner.

I have just made my keff speakers redundant after treating myself to a pair of sonos fives and a sonos gen 4 sub.

Not a purists idea of fidelity, but, Wow!

I have yet to return to vinyl... It is sooo tempting! So much awesome hardware, so little funds for them all!

(If/when I do go back to vinyl, it'll likely be Pro-Ject!)

I'm trying to remember - was that an ad for Memorex tape?

Ding! Ding! Ding!

We have a winner!

"This image features the legendary "Blown Away Guy" advertising campaign created for Maxell audio cassettes. Conceived by art director Lars Anderson and photographed by Steve Steigman, the imagery first appeared as a two-page print advertisement in Rolling Stone magazine in late 1978. Due to its massive success, it was adapted into an iconic television commercial in 1979 and ran throughout the 1980s."

Best Poster EVER!!!!

There's something about vinyl. The whole process is tactile. My deck is the cheapest link in the chain, but I don't have the ears for upgrading.

I think the tennis girl trumps it.

I've not listened to the Sonos, but I understand they are quite awesome!

If you are looking for alternatives (especially high efficiency speakers for low-power tube amps, say 300Bs), please do look at Tekton Design. Eric Alexander is a master of his craft and has built several sets of speakers for me!
