I have the above lens and have been using it for a few months (new to the A7riv and this lens). I have just purchased a (second hand) TT Artisans 50mm manual focus lens as a second option. This lens apperes to work fine (though will take some getting used to). I have just put my zoom lens back on, but now there is no image unless I press the AF-On button (which I have set for back-button focus). there is absolutely no image in the viewfinder unless this button is pushed (lens is set to autofocus- this has not changed). Anyone know what I have done wrong?

Cheers,
Mark

You have probably inadvertently put the monitor setting to manual and selected monitor, not viewfinder. or auto. I have mine set to auto on the A1, but viewfinder constantly on the A7RiV as it's eye detect sensor is a bit rubbish. Anyway, the old lens will have changed it, so just go into the menu and look at your viewfinder settings.
As an aside, I reprogrammed my focus hold button on the lens to switch between finder and monitor.

Correct, thanks. As I simply put the new (50mm manual focus) lens on and made no changes, could the camera have automatically made these changes?

Yes because it doesn't have all of the electrical contacts that the new lenses do, it will revert to whichever mode is triggered
