There are some unrumoured features:

  • 30 custom modes (10 for each of stills, video, and S&Q) - and they can be named.
  • new thicker batteries - not backward compatible
  • 30fps in 14 bit RAW with 16 bit HDR
  • same res EVF as we are used to (9.44Mdot), but 3 times brighter.
  • AF down to -6EV, but also also down to -11EV in "bright monitoring" - and able to focus on things that are smaller in frame
That's what I've gathered so far.

Yeah, I'm preordering.

Price is lower than rumoured (US$4499)

Minor disappointment - it has Speed Boost, but lacks the C5 button that is the default location for that function on the A1 II and A9 III.

It is fully-stacked, but not as fast as the A1 - hints that the second layer is different, possibly handling the dual readout that supports the 16bit HDR. They reported 5.6x faster than the A7RV, but that would mean going from about 1/10 for full readout to 1/56 - nothing like the 1/250 of the A1. Rolling shutter is still going to be an issue, just a lot less than on the A7RV.

It wasn't completely clear, but they did say it can shoot at 30fps (e-shutter) in 14 bit RAW and 16bit HDR for over 100 RAW or 200 JPEG.

The new battery has somewhat more capacity, but runs at a higher voltage. CIPA battery life is significantly higher. I think the new battery is partly needed by the new EVF, and probably partly by the new sensor.

The camera is physically thicker than the A7RV, but surprisingly 10g lighter!

Oh, and for the video types, they have added floating point audio (but you have to get the XLR grip to support it).

The DPR first look makes it sound like the menus are a bit in need of cleanup - I think maybe Sony rushed this one to get the first release of bodies out from 1 June - but that's something that can be improved in firmware. I suspect this camera may get some early updates like the A9 III did.

Per Jan Wegener the read-out speed is good for BiF photography with almost unnoticeable rolling shutter at the tips of wings in some cases.

In uncompressed RAW you get about 2 seconds of 30fps in compressed about 5 seconds.

Kinda surprised they didn't carry over some of the ergonomic design improvements from the a1 II and a9 III... like the slightly higher and more angled shutter button placement, higher custom buttons on top, and C5 button on the front.

I'm sure the A7RVI and 100-400 announced today will be great equipment, will make fantastic images and be the right choice for lots of folks. For my kit, I'm not interested. My primary is the A1II and the readout speed remains an advantage. I prefer 50MP allowing for plenty cropping, smaller files, etc. I'm happy enough with my RV as backup, landscape and non moving subject camera. On the 100-400, I would have been interested, maybe, with a built in TC. Otherwise, if it were a companion in my bag to the 400 f2.8, it is too large. And, surprisingly Steve Perry's video review didn't demonstrate significant IQ advantage over the 200-600. If I wanted a 100-400 for the kit, I would want smaller so maybe the Sigma or wait for the rumored slower Sony 100-400 G.

The 100-400mm f4.5 has quashed my need for 300mm f2.8 reports saying sharper than the 200-600mm with a 1.4t/c on the 100-400mm f4.5 also fairs well against the 400-800mm with 2x ,it will not i think being a zoom i might be wrong ,only the 100mm macro really shines with a 2x and maybe the 300mm f2.8 ,it fills the gap nicely between my 70-200mm gm and 400-800mm f6,3-f8 ,A7r6 is lovely stills shooter but with a slow read out it becomes rather pointless against even the a75 ,i mean all the pre cap stuff is their to catch action that is somewhat anoying with 18ms readout way better than the a7r5 but a little to slow ,would be nice if they could dumb down the resoloution to create a faster read out say option to have 30mp for fast action with half the read out ,so smaller files but for faster action just a thought .Still great features the lit buttons is nice always wanted bigger batterys and grip much appreciated 2 batterys and you are good for a full day 12hrs shooting .Although shame not backward compatible.
