Bird outing where I come home with Reptiles

It was the 18-11-2021and was out with an old mate birding who knows the area so well.
Time was on us to make way for home even though it was about 60 kilometer to get there.
I am the driver and me old mate the observer, when all of a sudden we both seen a 4 foot Sand Goanna crossing the road.
So you do what u must do and get the shots of it. Then about another 10 minutes later of more driving I seen something.
I knew right away what it was. I have only ever seen one of them before in my life.
It was a Western Blue-tongue Lizard. And again getting out to get the shots.
When me old mate told me it is also only the second one he has ever seen.

Good work, Ralph! Are these creatures a threat to humans? So how are you feeling about your A7 III and the 100-400 Sigma? Your shots were great.

No Jeff neither one is any threat. The bigger one if it gets a scare and you are standing there it has been known for them to run up you like a tree stump. They are very strong and you must keep the tail in control if you pick it up while the other one will release its bowels over you to get away. Keeping that in mind they are easy to pick up.
I love my A7iii and the lens is good but I do miss the reach that you would get with a 600mm lens.
But since owning this I have got back into manual and I am so happy with this side of it.

Seeing what the A7Rvi has got I would now love to get that but money is the hold up.
Maybe the wrong words to use when talking about money.

But I can stay with this camera as I am happy with all the features except for the Clear Image Zoom not working if you shot RAW.

Lovely shots Ralph and congratulations on the Western Blue-tongue Lizard Wish we had similar lizards here. We saw some water monitor lizards in Borneo that made great subjects. One was just casually plodding along in one of the villages where we were staying.

Lovely shots Ralph and congratulations on the Western Blue-tongue Lizard Wish we had similar lizards here. We saw some water monitor lizards in Borneo that made great subjects. One was just casually plodding along in one of the villages where we were staying.

This is one thing about our country we do seem to be lucky to have a good mix of things to photograph.
There is an Eastern Blue-tongue to get but to date I have not seen that one. One day it will turn up.

So not only do we need to watch the sky we need to watch down at ground level.
