Birds in flight taken with the 50-150 GM on the A9 III. Not a long lens, so I had to be fairly close, and crop.

I do not know what this bird was, but it was very quick - quite a challenge to catch, and a pain to track! The light was rather dull, so I had to raise the exposure to get a hint of colour into the plumage.

And a sequence taking flight - the clouds had gone by now, so these shots are at base ISO:

All of these images have been cropped down to 1500 x 1500 from the 6000x4000 frame of the A9 III - it's quite clear that the 50-150 wide open is a very sharp lens.

Edited to add that the second bird looks like a New Holland Honeyeater. I don't know what the top one is, although someone suggested it might be a Welcome Swallow.

Barn Swallow. I find that the Swallows and Swifts are the most fun to photograph in flight because of their quick redirections and changes in speed. Once you can track these well basically all other birds, other than hummingbirds, become fairly mundane.
