A few birds in flight from yesterday. The Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher is a rare bird to see around here. This is the second year in a row that we have had them nesting in our area (about an hour from here.) Unfortunately the skies were pretty gray.

A series in the big sis picking on the younger brother. These kids haven't been flying long so it will be another week or so before they are really active and the hunting training really gets going. Very happy that all 3 this year have successfully taken flight.

I was hoping to see the Scissor-Tailed Flycatchers again today but they were no where to be found. Instead I go lots of photos of the Ospreys. There were three adults and one nestling in each of two nests. One of the adults kept a fish with her as she flew to and from the nest.

We enjoyed the Birds of Prey show at Callaway Gardens a few days ago. There were three raptors, a Great-Horned Owl, Red-Tailed Hawk, and Harris's Hawk. The Red-Tailed Hawk was a rescue after having been shot. One of the trainers came up to me and said I was welcome to get photos of it while it was in front of the audience but to please not take any shots as it flew over the group of when it was behind the audience (which was pretty close to me.) They explained that it had been known to get spooked by big lenses and fly away into the woods to hide. I was glad I only had my 70-200 and not the 200-600.
