I am a refugee from Canon cameras, finally making the jump after decades in the EF world. What started as “I’ll just get one Sony body to test out the AF” has predictably turned into a full-blown migration—and now I’m all-in on the Alpha system.

My Current Sony Bodies

  • Sony A1 II – my main do-everything flagship. Incredible AF, dynamic range, and responsiveness.
  • Sony A9 III – my action machine. The global shutter has been a game-changer for birds, wildlife, and anything that moves fast enough to embarrass mechanical shutters.

    Lenses I am using
Sony native glass now, but I still adapt some favorites:

  • Sony zooms (7I, 70–200 GM II, 200–600 G, 24-105)
  • A handful of Canon EF lenses via the Sigma MC-11 adapter, the EF 11-25, 14, 24, 100, 100-400, 400DO, and 600 mm
  • Occasional Leica M lenses on the TechArt adapter when I want something with character or just a static adapter.

What I Like to Shoot

My interests bounce around quite a bit, so the three-body setup actually fits:

  • Birds & wildlife – the A9 III absolutely owns this category
  • Travel & landscapes – the AIii resolution and pixel-shift are fantastic
  • Street/documentary – silent shooting and small lenses keep things unobtrusive
  • Macro & product photography – mostly on the R V for detail and studio control
Happy to be here, and happy to share any Canon-to-Sony migration experiences—what worked, what surprised me, and what gear actually earned a permanent place in the bag.
