Tried the Sony a9 III + 200-600mm for some Golden Eagles in flight. These are huge birds with ~7 foot wingspans that move very fast when hunting ground squirrels. They move through the viewfinder really fast - especially at such close distances of ~10 feet so I appreciated the internal zoom and 60 fps drive mode of the A9 III. I have shot Canon several years and still do so for video, so I'm finding myself zooming the wrong way so need to re-train that muscle memory for my Sony stills setup lol.

Where are you located to get a shot like that, and at eye level too?

Very nice. The ultimate bird of prey for me. Never get anywhere as close in Scotland though.

I find a spot on the hill overlooking where they hunt out here in California. They come by really low trying to grab ground squirrels. Pretty amazing to watch them whiz by. You can hear their wings cutting through the air.
