Hello from Colombia

Hey everyone! Greetings from Colombia

I'm Sebastián, software engineer and a hobbyist photographer. I started with an a6000 back in 2019 with the starter kit lenses. Sold the kit, and got an a6700 two years ago. Most used lens has been the Tamron 17-70, then the Sigma 56 and lastly the Sony 70-350.

Found the forum while searching references for the Sony 200-600mm. Last year I went for the first time on a bird photography trip, where I really got to use the 70-350, and ended up really enjoying the experience. I'm planning on going on a similar trip in September and started looking into lenses with a little more reach, even though the 70-350 exceeded my expectations.

Peeked into the forum, and there is a lot of useful content and a great community, glad to be here!

Bienvenido! Welcome to the forum. I also started with the A6000 in 2019 and upgraded to the A6700. It is a very good camera.

That is similar to the way I started. What trip did you do and what trip are you going to do?
I've done 3 trips with Tropical Birding, I went to Thailand, Ecuador and Costa Rica. I am lining up a trip to Tanzania for next year with Rockjumper Birding. My advice about birding trips is that if you are doing a small group tour then be sure to really read what the tours are like because photo tours can end up with what some would call "Birding with a Camera" or serious photography. The "Birding with a Camera" are tours that would fall between the birding tours that are aiming to get as many species as possible and the photo tours that an hour or so trying to get great shots of a couple birds.
