Depends what you regard as different. I recall Canon announcing a fisheye zoom many years ago (I just checked, it was the 8-15mm fisheye zoom for EF announced in 2010). Interestingly, they also announced a 7-14mm fisheye zoom for RF in February this year - I haven't been tracking Canon for quite a while, so I wasn't aware of that one. So this might be different for Sony, but these have been around quite a while.

I did buy an 8mm fisheye prime from Sigma a long time ago (it wasn't expensive). It was kinda cute, but the novelty wore off pretty quickly. I doubt I'll ever buy another.

For some people, they are a stimulus to creativity. I also hear that they can be used scientifically, because the full circle image can be used to assess illuminance (or something like that). Not my field

I am addicted to telephotos and anything less than 50mm confuses me.
