The Pileated woodpecker was back again this afternoon… she seems to really like my bark butter…

Wonderful!

Recipe, please, and how do you keep the squirrels off if it?

Hey Tim..
Here is a link to the recipe I use.. it’s for a small batch but I just increased the amounts to make a much larger potion.. as for keeping squirrels off see attached pic of one of my feeders..

Ok, squirrel guard. Was hoping you had some novel new idea!

I may be missing it, but don't see a link?

Excellent, thanks!

Oddly I went looking and ran into that same recipe. It looks pretty easy compared to some I saw with fresh nuts and whatnot.

It’s very easy and the birds love it..

Superb. Great looking birds.

Very good to see these shot of a bird we don't have in our wonderful country.
So this is a way that people from places that don't have them get the chance to see them.

Got my log up and the bark butter applied. The only woodpeckers I've ever seen around my house are the Downy and Red Bellied, although I've seen Northern Flicker and Pileated about 10 miles from here, so I know there are some in the area. I saw a few nuthatches this summer. It'll be interesting to see what it attracts. I stopped feeding in late summer because the sparrows had taken everything over and I wanted them to head out, so birds will need to re-discover the feeders.
