I'd be interested to know peoples experiences with the A7R4 and Sony 85mm F1.8 in the studio with flash - I use Elinchrom - as I'm still trying to find the best setup. I find that eye AF is unreliable with smaller apertures (F8 and smaller) and takes a while to lock on. Using single point AFS is no better as I struggle to lock on too. However, using any of these methods in equivalent low ambient lighting similar to modelling lamps, all works fine, focus locks on very quickly. Is there a possible connection between the autofocus struggling and flash head tungsten modelling lamps?

Wow - I had to double-check the spelling. One of my favorite MUA's is Vlada Haggerty ( https://www.vladamua.com/ ). It's easy to see Karen keeps up and ahead of the curve too. Until I actually worked with an actual MUA I had no idea how much production value they bring.

Yep! Greatly under-valued at present, I get her in on my workshops whenever possible.

Hi Mick

I’ve used the A7R4 with the 85 1.8. I generally use wide focussing mode and let eye AF do it’s work. I find the Sony a bit slower than the Sigma 85 1.4 that I now use, but it’s stil, a great lens.
nice images.

just re-read your OP and I didn’t answer any of your questions did I. Sorry 😂

Nice shots Mark. Because of makeup I couldn't tell how many different ladies were on these photos. Who does the makeup?

We usually have Birds and Bugs, now we have Babes. Pardon the humor. I'm not trying to minimize your work. I just started thinking about the B's..

Hi

Three different models. All do their own makeup.
Humour pardoned 🤣👍

cheers
