Hey there from the Texas Hill Country. My Alphas are my travel cameras. I use a Neewer adapter to use my Nikon lenses. Been around cameras for a long time. Started shooting 50+ years ago. Sony could use some help with their menu structure for sure. Sigma 17-70 is what's on the camera most of the time. Macro works fine using manual focus.

Welcome Johnny! Which camera body are you using?
Sony's newest cameras have a slightly updated menu structure, but in general you're right, they do take some getting used to (and the lack of touchscreen integration with those menus is frustrating too!)
